Invitation

Here is the invitation I'm doing for the party. Lots of work, but I'm a good portion of the way done with the 80 or so I'm doing. I should be finishing most of them today so I can fully enjoy my trip to the Tulip fields this weekend ! Our favorite B&B in La Conner awaits ... ahhhhh, I am SO ready for some jacuzzi time ! I'll take pictures there ( not in the jacuzzi,so don't worry ;) ). It's so beautiful in April and I've heard that the tulips are in full bloom !

Truth be told, I've been swamped. With party planning, work, life ...oh, and whining, being sick and just the usual periodic unhappiness that comes with being 40. OK, so a little more than forty, but who's counting ?

Next week I'm going to get part 2 of a haircut I started back in January. It needed to grow out in order to " make it interesting " as Jennifer puts it. Anyway, I'm going to get a little zing of blond back too. I think it's my version of a mid-life crisis ;) I can't really afford the new sportscar or new wardrobe. I'll settle for something outside the box.















The 50th Anniversary party is coming along. Here's the cake I think we've decided on ... YES ! It really IS a cake ! Entirely edible, from the chocolate slab base, to the white chocolate rings on the binder and photo corners. Cool, huh ? I've decided to do violets on the tables, and do a simple centerpiece with them as the feature. I read somewhere that violets were the 50th Anniversary flower. Go figure. For lack of a better idea, I'm going with a gold and violet color scheme. Am I crazy ? I think it sounds wonderful *

I've been gathering balloons, engraved napkins, photos and other party stuff. I'm doing as much as I can NOW so I can manage the stress of it all. Any ideas about the party or planning or anything else are welcome ! Even if you just want to drop a note to say Hi . I'd love that. Really. I'll post the invitation I'm making soon. I only have 80 to make !

Lazy Sunday

OK. So maybe I'm living in the past a bit today. It's rainy and windy and I'm nursing a stupid cold while I veg out on the couch. These photos were from our Hawaii trip a couple years ago. Ahhhh ... I have such good memories. I was hopeful for a Hawaii trip this fall, but it looks like it won't happen this year. Damn !

Trying to get motivated to get my butt off the couch and get OUT today, but it's slow. We believe we have decided on a couch and loveseat. It's at Lazy-Boy. Everything reclines. It's pretty " grown-up "furniture, but we think we're ready ;) It's more than I really wanted to spend, but I'm willing to go and look at it one more time to decide for sure.

Just playing around on myspacemusic today and checking out some sites I had made notes to check out, but really hadnt had a chance to look at yet.

Went for Mexican with George and Derek to our favorite neighborhood place last night. Good food and great conversation ... what more could a girl want ? ! We are going to The BODIES exhibit tomorrow with a friend from work, maybe a friend of hers and Derek. I think it will be a fascinating peek inside ... almost eerily intrusive somehow. I've wanted to go for a long time. Wish George could come too ...damn jobs !

My Evening Companion

Snippy is my best friend on nights like these. Kelly's in bed early, the fire is blazing, and we are camped on the couch watching reruns of Law & Order. She used to bully MY cat, Sammy. After he died several years ago I didn't forgive Snippy for a long time. It wasn't her FAULT that he died, I just hated that she bullied him the way she did. Time heals all wounds ... and now she's a great pal. She's absolutely spoiled rotten and the most affectionate animal you'd ever want to meet. Otter is more Kelly's dog. Snippy has laid claim to me ...

What I " Should " Be Doing ...

I have thirty cards to make for an order from my dentist. She's wonderful in many ways, not the least of which, she's also a customer of mine ! They are fairly easy cards, but the motivation and focus are lost today. I don't know if it's this headache I have, the new music distracting me or what exactly is keeping me from settling down. NOW I'm writing here ... the cards will have to wait.

My postal job is beginning to really wear on me again. More changes in management, less time to do more work, and the worst thing of all ...my hands are beginning to ache. Sometimes it's downright painful. Not sure if it's carpal tunnel or something, but it's a bit unsettling. The art I do requires my hands. If I'm left only to my braen I'm not sure that the art inside me translates very well. There is a certain resignation in that I know this is my journey ...

I'm anxious for summer. At least spring ! I just dug out my favorite shorts and sandals in anticipation. It won't come soon enough. It's been a long winter. It's looking like Hawaii is not going to happen this year ;) Other priorities I guess. We need a new couch. I am planning to do a couple " make-overs " in the house, and I have some plans for the yard too. It's been decided that K and I will take a few long weekend trips, but that she'll go back to see her family in the summer by herself. That means I will get a little trip away on my own sometime this year. I'm thinking Las Vegas !!! Any takers ?? I know a couple people who might be able to get away for a couple days. Maybe there's a PX trip in the making ! And it doesn't even have to be Vegas ~

OK. Back to work.
